2019 – Let’s celebrate Chemistry

Minakem will celebrate chemistry in 2019

International Year of the Periodic Table 2019

2019 will be the 150th anniversary of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements and has therefore been proclaimed the “International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019)” by the United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO.

2018-2019: in France, “the year of chemistry, from primary school to university!”

Because chemistry is so important and in order to highlight the role of chemistry in industry and its contribution to technological, economical and sustainable development, Minakem will organize open doors for high school students to visit its production facilities and R&D laboratories in Beuvry-la-Forêt (Lille area, France), and Dunkirk (France). Students will be guided through our operations and have a chance to meet with our teams of chemistry enthusiasts.

Prix Pierre Potier des Lycéens

The research team of Minakem has recently been nominated for the “Prix Pierre Potier des Lycéens”. Each year, this prize highlights and rewards innovative initiatives of Chemical companies for sustainable development, for a better environment. See more

Minakem’s project: “GREEN PZQ, an eco-responsible manufacturing process for a medicine”. The ecological footprint of this process has indeed been reduced over optimizations. At the end of the research, this method makes it possible to manufacture a pharmaceutical active ingredient of high quality and low cost without using any organic solvents.

International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO)

Minakem is an official sponsor of The International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), an annual competition for the world’s most talented chemistry students at the secondary school level.  80 countries participate and will send a delegation to Paris in July 2019. The program created in 1968 is intended to stimulate student interest in chemistry through solving of independent and creative chemical problems. It also aims at promoting international contacts in chemistry, friendships between young scientific workers of different nationalities, cooperation among pupils, and exchange of pedagogical and scientific experience in chemistry,  See more
