Our Missions
Since 2005, our mission has been to promote innovative and more environmentally friendly pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies to produce high-quality active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates.
By placing people and excellence at the heart of our priorities, our teams in France, Belgium, and Canada support clinical research and commercialization throughout the product lifecycle.

Our History
Minakem is a manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) with four production sites, three in Europe and one in Canada. The company also specializes in the manufacture of pharmaceutical intermediates and benefits from over 65 years of experience and heritage.
1952
Founded as « Laboratoires du Bois de Boulogne » near Paris, laying the groundwork for future innovation. Company’s foundation by Mr. Claude Dufour in the western suburb of Paris (Boulogne under the name of «Laboratoires du Bois de Boulogne» and renamed the company SEAC.
1962
Relocation to Beuvry-la-Forêt, establishing our current headquarters in Northern France. This site, known as Minakem Beuvry-la-Forêt since 2005, boasts a long history of expertise.
1974
Construction of the Louvain-la-Neuve Site for Vinca Alkaloids production, owned by Ajinomoto Omnichem since 1989.
1995
Construction of the new Plant in Dunkirk by AstraZeneca.
1998
Louvain-la-Neuve site major upgrade to allow handling of highly actives and cytotoxic products under strict containment (OEB class 5).
2005
A pivotal year. Minakem takes over SEAC operations, acquiring a wealth of resources including R&D labs, a pilot plant, and significant manufacturing capabilities. This marked the official launch of Minakem as we know it today.
2009
Expansion through the acquisition of the Dunkirk plant, increasing our reactor capacity by 150m3. This move also expanded our technology base with steroid manufacturing, micronization, and injectable capabilities.
2015
Our most recent acquisition involved Ajinomoto’s business and site, significantly enhancing our expertise in high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredients (HAPIs). This strategic move allows us to develop cutting-edge pharmaceutical productions requiring high-level containment facilities.
2023
Continued commitment to innovation! A major investment of €40 million adds 30m3 of capacity to manufacture commercial small molecules APIs.
2023
Last acquisition to date, Minakem takes over Delmar’s business and site in Montreal.
